⚡ FREE · INDICATIVE RATES

Currency Converter: Rupees, Dollars, Dirhams and More

Check an indicative exchange rate, with its date always shown.

  • 💱 25 common currencies
  • 📅 Rate date always shown
  • 🏷️ Live or offline, clearly labelled

How to use the Currency Converter

  1. 1. Enter an amountType how much you want to convert.
  2. 2. Pick two currenciesChoose from and to, or use the swap button.
  3. 3. See the rateGet the converted amount, the rate, its date and its source.

Where the rates come from

When you press Convert, your browser asks a free public rates service for the latest figures. It tries ExchangeRate-API first, then Frankfurter, which uses European Central Bank reference rates. The request carries only the currency code you picked. Your amount is never sent, and the conversion is worked out in your browser.

These services update about once a day and do not track the market minute by minute, so "live" here means the latest published rate. The date is always shown next to the result.

If neither service can be reached, the tool falls back to a saved table from 5 November 2026 and labels it clearly as offline and not live. Please do not rely on those figures for today's value.

Why your bank will give you a different number

The rates here are indicative mid-market rates, which sit between the buying and selling prices. Banks, cards, forex counters and remittance apps add a margin or fees on top, so the rate you actually get will be less favourable.

Here is an example with made-up numbers. If the mid-market rate were ₹90 per US dollar and your provider charged ₹92, then paying for a $100 course would cost ₹9,200 and not ₹9,000. The ₹200 gap is the margin, before any flat fee.

Before you send money or book anything, ask your provider for the final rate and all charges. Comparing a price abroad with India? Remember that card spends abroad can also carry a foreign exchange markup.

Need to convert a rate date from an API log? Use the timestamp converter. Working with rate data? The JSON to CSV converter turns it into a spreadsheet.

Frequently asked questions

Are these rates live?

When the result says Live rate, it is the latest figure published by a public rates service, usually updated daily. If that fails, a saved table is used and clearly labelled as offline.

Is this the rate my bank will give me?

No. These are indicative rates for reference. Banks, cards and remittance services add their own margin and fees.

What data leaves my browser?

Only the currency code you picked, which is needed to fetch the rate. Your amount is not sent, and it is calculated on your device.

Is this tool free?

Yes, it is free. We ask for your name and WhatsApp number once when you see your result, and other Uncodemy tools then open without the form.
