How many marks do I need in the end-sem to pass?
Enter your internal marks and your university's passing rule. See the exact end-semester score you need to pass, to reach first division, or to hit distinction, and which rule is the one holding you back.

How the calculation works
With internal marks I, external weight E, total T = internal max + E, and your university's minimums:
Example: 18 out of 30 internal, 70 external, pass at 40% total and 35% in the end-sem. The total rule needs 40 − 18 = 22, but the end-sem rule needs 25. So you need 25 out of 70: the end-sem minimum is the rule holding you back, and good internal marks can't lower it.
Questions students ask
Why do I need more than the total says?
Most universities set a separate minimum for the end-semester exam. Even with full internal marks you must clear it, so a strong internal score lowers your target only up to that floor.
Where do I find my university's passing rule?
In the academic ordinance or regulations for your scheme, usually on the university website, and often printed on the back of your grade card. Your department office can confirm it.
Do grace marks count?
Some universities award a few grace marks to students who miss passing by a small margin, under strict conditions. Don't plan around them; they're a safety net, not a target.
What if I can't pass even with full end-sem marks?
That happens when internal marks are very low or below an internal minimum. Ask your department about improvement tests, re-assessment of internals, or the carry-over/back-paper process before the exam.
