EPF Calculator: Estimate Your PF Balance at Retirement

See what your provident fund could grow to by the time you retire.

  • 🏦 You + employer share
  • 📈 Salary rise included
  • ✏️ Rate is editable

How to use the EPF Calculator

  1. 1. Enter your payType your monthly basic + DA, age and current EPF balance.
  2. 2. Check the ratesReview the contribution rates and the EPF interest rate. Change them if needed.
  3. 3. See the balanceGet the balance at retirement and a table for every year.

How the EPF balance is calculated

Each month, you put in 12% of basic + DA. Your employer also puts in 12%, but part of that goes to the Employees' Pension Scheme (EPS): 8.33% of pay up to the EPS wage ceiling. The rest goes to your EPF.

Interest is worked out on the monthly running balance and added at the end of the year. Money paid in during a month starts earning from the next month.

Example: pay of ₹15,000 for one year, at 8.25%. You put in ₹1,800 a month. The employer's ₹1,800 splits into ₹1,250 for EPS and ₹550 for EPF. So ₹2,350 reaches your EPF each month, or ₹28,200 in the year. Interest is ₹2,350 × 66 × 8.25% ÷ 12, which is ₹1,066. Your balance after a year is ₹29,266.

The 8.25% rate in the tool is an assumption, not a promise. The rate is declared each year, so verify the current one and edit it. The EPS wage ceiling is also editable.

What affects your final EPF number

  • Time. Most of the final amount is usually interest, and it builds up in the later years. Withdrawing early does the most damage.
  • Salary growth. Your contribution rises with basic pay. The rise here is your own assumption, so try a few values.
  • Job changes. Transfer your EPF to the new employer's account, as a break can affect both interest and the tax treatment.
  • Voluntary PF. You can raise your own contribution above 12%. Change the percentage to see the effect.

Compare EPF with other retirement options using the NPS calculator and PPF calculator. For a fuller picture of your exit benefits, add the gratuity calculator. Tax rules on withdrawals and on interest for high contributions can change, so treat this as an estimate, not tax advice.

Frequently asked questions

Why does only part of the employer's share go to EPF?

Because 8.33% of pay up to the wage ceiling goes to the pension scheme. The rest of the employer's 12% goes to your EPF balance.

Is the 8.25% rate fixed?

No. It is an assumption you should verify. The rate is declared every year, and the box in the tool can be edited.

Does the tool show my EPS pension?

No. It shows your EPF balance. EPS money is shown as a monthly amount but is not added to the balance.

Is this tax advice?

No. This is an estimate, not tax advice. Verify the current rules or ask a tax professional before you decide.

Is this tool free?

Yes. It is free, and we ask for your name and WhatsApp number once when you view your result. All other Uncodemy tools then open without the form.
