PPF Calculator: See Your Public Provident Fund Maturity

Work out your PPF maturity, interest and balance for every year.

  • 🛡️ 7.1% default rate
  • 🗓️ Yearly or monthly deposits
  • 📊 Full 15-year table

How to use the PPF Calculator

  1. 1. Enter your yearly depositAny amount from ₹500 to ₹1.5 lakh a year.
  2. 2. Pick timing and periodChoose yearly or monthly deposits, and 15 years or longer.
  3. 3. See your maturityGet the final amount and each year's interest and balance.

How PPF interest works

The default rate is 7.1%, the rate for Oct-Dec 2026. The government reviews it every quarter, so edit it if it has changed.

PPF interest is worked out each month on the lowest balance between the 5th and the last day of that month. It is then credited once a year, on 31 March. That rule makes the date you deposit matter.

If you put in the full yearly amount by 5 April, it earns for all 12 months. The maturity formula is then A = D × (1 + r) × ((1 + r)^n − 1) / r, where D is the yearly deposit.

Worked example: ₹1,50,000 a year for 15 years at 7.1%, paid by 5 April. You deposit ₹22,50,000 and the account matures at ₹40,68,209. Interest is ₹18,18,209.

Monthly deposits earn less

Now split the same ₹1,50,000 into ₹12,500 a month, paid by the 5th. The maturity falls to ₹39,44,599, about ₹1.24 lakh lower. Nothing is wrong: the April money earns for 12 months but the March money earns for just one. If you can, deposit early in the year. If you can only pay monthly, pay before the 5th, because a deposit after that misses the month's interest. Change the When you deposit box to compare.

Rules worth knowing

  • Limit. ₹500 minimum and ₹1.5 lakh maximum a financial year.
  • Lock-in. The account runs 15 years, then can be extended in 5-year blocks.
  • Access. Loans are possible in the early years and part withdrawals from the seventh financial year.
  • Tax. Interest and maturity are tax-free. The deposit can get Section 80C benefit under the old tax regime.

For a daughter's goals, see the Sukanya Samriddhi calculator. For a shorter lock-in, try the NSC calculator.

Frequently asked questions

Is 7.1% fixed for all 15 years?

No. 7.1% is the Oct-Dec 2026 rate and it can change every quarter. Any new rate applies to your whole balance, so this result is an estimate.

What happens if I deposit more than ₹1.5 lakh in a year?

The extra earns no interest and does not get tax benefit. It is returned to you. The calculator stops you at ₹1.5 lakh.

Can I keep investing after 15 years?

Yes. You can extend in blocks of 5 years, with or without deposits. Pick 20, 25 or 30 years here to see the effect of continued deposits.

Is the PPF calculator free?

Yes. You enter your name and WhatsApp number once to see your result, and all other Uncodemy tools then open without the form.
