Keyword Density Checker: Spot Overused Words

See which words and phrases your text repeats the most.

  • 📊 1 to 3 word phrases
  • 🧹 Stop-word filter
  • 🔒 Your text stays private

How to use the Keyword Density Checker

  1. 1. Paste your textAdd your article or page copy. The tool does not fetch URLs.
  2. 2. Set the filtersChoose phrase length and how often a phrase must appear.
  3. 3. Read the tableSee count and density for each phrase, and download it as CSV.

How keyword density is worked out

Density shows what share of your text a word or phrase takes up. The formula used here is:

density = times used × words in phrase ÷ total words × 100

So in a 200-word article where the phrase data analytics appears 6 times, the density is 6 × 2 ÷ 200 × 100 = 6%. Counting each word of the phrase means a two-word and a one-word result can be compared fairly. Some other tools skip that step, so their numbers can differ.

Phrases are only counted within a sentence. If one sentence ends in data and the next starts with science, that is not counted as data science. Stop words like the and of are removed from single-word results, and phrases that start or end with one are skipped. They still count in the total, so the percentages stay honest. Hindi text is supported as well.

What is a good keyword density?

There is no ideal number. Google has not published a target percentage, and its spam policies warn against stuffing pages with keywords. Treat any figure you read online as an opinion, not a rule.

Use this tool as a writing check instead:

  • If one phrase stands out far above the rest, try reading the paragraph aloud. If it sounds forced, use a natural alternative.
  • If your main topic does not appear at all, your text may be too vague.
  • Look at the two and three word results to find habits you did not notice.

The tool reads only the text you paste and does not fetch URLs or show search volumes. Happy with the copy? Write the page's search snippet with the meta tag generator. Reusing the content on video? The YouTube tag generator can help.
