The Azure Solutions Architect path is designed for professionals who design cloud solutions spanning compute, networking, storage, and security. Here's how the certification path is structured.

Step 1: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)

This is the recommended entry point, covering core cloud concepts, Azure services, pricing, and governance. It isn't a prerequisite, but it builds the vocabulary the rest of the path assumes.

Step 2: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)

AZ-104 is a prerequisite for the Solutions Architect Expert certification. It focuses on hands-on management of Azure resources — VMs, storage, networking, and identity — which gives architects practical grounding before they design at a higher level.

Step 3: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
