Overview of Postman Interface
The Main Layout
Postman's interface is organized into a sidebar for navigation, a request builder in the center for composing API calls, and a response viewer that displays results after a request is sent.
Key Interface Areas
| Area | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Sidebar | Access collections, environments, and history |
| Request Builder | Enter the URL, method, headers, and body for a request |
| Response Viewer | Displays the status, body, headers, and time of the response |
| Environment Selector | Switch between different sets of variables |
Getting Comfortable with the Layout
Spending a few minutes exploring each panel - especially the request builder and response viewer - makes it much easier to work efficiently once you start sending real requests.
Now that you know your way around the interface, you're ready to create and send your very first API request.
