Where a university changed its rule, both schemes are listed. The formula printed on your own grade card or transcript always takes precedence.

Questions students ask
Why is my percentage different from what my friend's calculator shows?
Most calculators apply one formula, usually CGPA × 9.5, to everyone. Universities set their own rule in their ordinance, and many changed it for newer batches. An 8.0 CGPA is 80% at AKTU (revised ordinance), 72.5% at MAKAUT and 67.8% for Mumbai University engineering.
Which formula should I write on a job application?
Use your university's official formula, and keep a copy of the circular or the conversion line from your grade card. If a company states its own conversion rule in the drive notice, use theirs for that application.
Does the same formula work for SGPA?
Yes for most universities. The rule applies to semester SGPA and cumulative CGPA alike, so you can convert either one here.
Is CGPA × 9.5 correct?
It is the CBSE rule for school results and the one Delhi University uses. For most engineering universities it is not the official conversion.
What CGPA do I need for placements?
Many mass recruiters ask for 60% (or 6.0 CGPA) consistently across 10th, 12th and graduation, with no active backlogs. Some analyst and product roles ask for 65–70%. Always check the specific drive notice.
