Fresher eligibility criteria, company by company
No major IT company publishes a single official table. These are the criteria most commonly reported for 2026 drives. The percentage applies separately to 10th, 12th and graduation, not as an average. Always confirm on the drive notice before applying.

Questions students ask
Is 60% needed in 10th, 12th and graduation, or overall?
At each level separately. A student with 85% in graduation but 58% in 12th is usually filtered out by mass recruiters like TCS and Wipro.
Can I apply with an active backlog?
For most companies you can sit the test only if you will clear it before joining, and some drives ask for zero active backlogs even at registration. The offer is withdrawn if the backlog is still pending on the joining date.
What counts as an education gap?
Any year between 10th and graduation, or after graduation, in which you were not enrolled. A year dropped for entrance coaching counts. Most companies accept up to 1–2 years in total if you can explain it, often with a gap affidavit or certificate.
I'm not eligible for these companies. What now?
Startups, product companies and many mid-size IT firms hire on skills and projects rather than academic cut-offs. A strong portfolio in data analytics, testing or full-stack development opens doors that marks cannot.
Can BCA, B.Sc or B.Com students apply?
Some tracks accept BCA and B.Sc (for example Cognizant GenC in many drives), but most engineering-track hiring needs B.E./B.Tech, M.Tech, MCA or M.Sc. Non-engineering graduates usually enter IT through skills-based hiring.
