Software testing course syllabus in Kozhikode
The 165 hours are divided into thirteen modules. All modules include hands-on work, and Module 13 gives you the complete remittance app to test.
01Software Testing Fundamentals & SDLC/STLC10 hrs
The first class looks at a salary-day complaint. A worker in Sharjah locks a rate of 22.65 rupees per dirham, but the app credits his mother in Vadakara at 22.48, because the lock timer was checked on the phone's clock rather than the server's. Starting from that case, the module covers why testing matters, its seven principles, Waterfall, V-Model and Agile, and how STLC stages line up with unit, integration, system and acceptance testing.
02Manual Testing, Test Cases & Bug Reporting12 hrs
The transfer screen is your design exercise. Rate-lock minutes, fee slabs, currencies (AED, SAR, QAR, OMR), account types (NRE, NRO, wallet) and KYC levels form boundaries and equivalence classes. You test through exploration, smoke, sanity and regression, and grade every defect by severity and priority.
03Agile, Scrum & Test Management8 hrs
How a fintech team runs Scrum: sprint planning, daily check-ins, compliance demo at review, retrospective. You set up the app's Jira project with board, workflow, filters and dashboard, and write a test plan that puts rates, fees and compliance first.
04SQL & Database Testing10 hrs
SQL on senders, beneficiaries, quotes, transfers and refunds. Table design, constraints, selecting, sorting, aggregating, joining and nesting queries — used to build realistic transfer data or prove every credited amount matches its locked rate.
05Programming Fundamentals with Python or Java15 hrs
Python or Java from zero: data types, conditions, loops, functions, classes, inheritance and exceptions. Final exercise: a small program that loads sender and rate data from CSV, JSON or Excel so one test can replay a whole salary day.
06Selenium WebDriver & Automation Fundamentals15 hrs
Selenium WebDriver on the operations console: locating fields by ID, CSS or XPath, explicit waits, alerts, frames, currency drop-downs and long transfer logs, packaged as PyTest or TestNG suites for Chrome, Edge and Firefox.
07Playwright Automation with JavaScript/TypeScript15 hrs
TypeScript primer, then Playwright: role- and text-based locators, auto-waiting checks, fixtures, reusable signed-in state, partner bank API failures, ID-document uploads, parallel tests and trace files for debugging.
08API Testing with Postman & REST APIs12 hrs
REST basics: methods, endpoints, headers, codes and JSON. Build Postman collections, set environments, log in with tokens and validate response schemas.
09API Automation & Integration Testing12 hrs
Turn Postman requests into automated tests: assertions, transfer ID passed from quote to lock to payout, tokens renewed automatically, inputs from data files. One end-to-end test through API, mocked partner bank and database.
10GenAI for Test Case Generation & Test Data10 hrs
Regulations add a new limit for remittances above a threshold. Gen AI suggests scenarios and sample senders; you review, correct gaps, and learn why passport numbers and salary amounts must never be pasted into a public chatbot.
11AI-Assisted Automation, Debugging & Test Maintenance12 hrs
ChatGPT and GitHub Copilot in daily work: suggested test methods, clarified stack traces, fixed flaky locators. Every suggestion is run and understood before it is committed.
12Framework Design, Git, CI/CD & Test Reporting14 hrs
Page-object structure, data outside code, peer-reviewed merges, Jenkins jobs on each commit, Allure summaries the compliance team understands.
13End-to-End Testing Project & Capstone20 hrs
The remittance app is yours to sign off: plan testing, execute cases, automate sender screens, operations console and APIs, every GitHub push triggers Jenkins. Final sessions: stronger CV and LinkedIn, project walkthrough, practice interviews.
