How to use the Attendance Calculator
- 1. Enter your classesType classes held so far and classes you attended.
- 2. Set the targetEnter the attendance your college requires. 75% is filled in, so change it if yours differs.
- 3. See your numberFind out how many classes you can miss, or must attend in a row.
The attendance formula
Attendance is classes attended ÷ classes held × 100. The next step depends on which side of the target you are on. Here T is the target percentage, H is classes held and A is classes attended.
- Above the target: classes you can miss = (100 × A − T × H) ÷ T, rounded down.
- Below the target: classes you must attend = (T × H − 100 × A) ÷ (100 − T), rounded up.
Two worked examples
Below the target. You attended 60 of 100 classes, so you are at 60%, and your target is 75%. Then (7,500 − 6,000) ÷ 25 = 60 classes. Check it: 120 ÷ 160 = 75%.
Above the target. You attended 90 of 100 classes. Then (9,000 − 7,500) ÷ 75 = 20 classes you can miss. Check it: 90 ÷ 120 = 75%.
Each missed class also adds to classes held. That is why you can miss fewer classes than a quick guess suggests, and why climbing back takes longer than you expect.
Before you plan a day off
Your college's own rule decides. Colleges may count labs and theory apart, round in their own way or give relief on medical grounds. If 100% is the target and you have already missed a class, the tool will tell you it cannot be reached.

Frequently asked questions
How many classes can I miss and keep 75%?
Enter your classes held and attended. The tool shows the exact number, because it depends on your current count.
How many classes do I need to reach 75%?
If you are below 75%, the tool shows how many classes you must attend in a row without a miss.
Does this include labs?
It counts whatever you enter. If your college tracks labs apart, calculate them separately.
Is this tool free?
