How CGPA is calculated
CGPA is a credit-weighted average. A four-credit subject counts twice as much as a two-credit subject. The formula is CGPA = sum of (grade point × credits) ÷ sum of credits.
Here is a worked example with the tool's default rows. Mathematics has grade A+ (9 points) and 4 credits, which gives 36. Physics has A (8 points) and 4 credits, which gives 32. Programming has O (10 points) and 3 credits, which gives 30. English has B+ (7 points) and 2 credits, which gives 14. The total is 112 credit points over 13 credits, and 112 ÷ 13 = 8.62.
SGPA, CGPA and adding a previous score
SGPA covers one semester. CGPA covers every semester so far. To update your CGPA, fill in your previous CGPA and the credits behind it. The tool then adds both sets of credit points.
For example, a CGPA of 7.5 over 40 credits is worth 300 credit points. A new semester of 20 credits at 8.00 adds 160. Now 460 ÷ 60 = 7.67.
Do not simply average your semester SGPAs. That only works when every semester has the same credits.
Check your own grade table
The letter grades here follow a common 10-point table: O 10, A+ 9, A 8, B+ 7, B 6, C 5, P 4 and F 0. Your university may use another table. If so, switch to the grade points scale and pick the number printed on your marksheet.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between SGPA and CGPA?
SGPA is your grade point average for one semester. CGPA is the average across all semesters so far, weighted by credits.
Does a failed subject count in CGPA?
In this tool, an F has 0 points and its credits still count, so it lowers the score. Some universities replace it after a re-exam, so check your rule.
Can I add more subjects?
Yes. Press Add subject for a new row, up to 40 subjects, and use the cross to remove one.
Is this CGPA calculator free?
Yes. You enter your name and WhatsApp number once when you see your result, and other Uncodemy tools then open without the form.
