CGPA to Percentage: Convert With the Rule Your Institution Uses

Convert your CGPA to a percentage using a preset or your own rule.

  • 📐 Preset rules
  • ✏️ Custom multiplier
  • 📊 Compare all rules

How to use the CGPA to Percentage Calculator

  1. 1. Enter your CGPAType your CGPA on a 10-point scale.
  2. 2. Choose the rulePick a preset, or choose Custom and enter your university's numbers.
  3. 3. See the percentageGet your estimate, plus the same CGPA under each preset rule.

There is no single conversion formula

Universities differ. Each institution can set its own rule, and some publish none at all. So treat this result as an estimate, and check the official rule on your marksheet, in your ordinance or with your exam office before you write it on a form.

This tool keeps each rule as a labelled preset, so you can see which one you used. If your university gives a different number, choose Custom and type it in.

The rules in this tool, with a worked example

  • CBSE: CGPA × 9.5. CBSE gave 9.5 as an indicative factor for its class 10 CGPA. For a CGPA of 8.2, 8.2 × 9.5 = 77.9%.
  • (CGPA × 10) − 7.5. This preset is often quoted for AKTU and is used in similar forms elsewhere. For 8.2, 82 − 7.5 = 74.5%. Please confirm it for your batch.
  • CGPA × 10. A simple rule some institutions accept. For 8.2, it gives 82%.
  • Custom. Enter a multiplier and an optional number to subtract.

The gap between 74.5% and 82% for the same CGPA shows why the rule matters. Results stay between 0 and 100.

Where this matters

Job forms, higher study applications and bank exams often ask for a percentage even when your marksheet shows CGPA. If a form asks for a conversion certificate, only your university can issue it.

Going the other way? Use percentage to CGPA. Still working out the score itself? Start with the CGPA calculator.

Frequently asked questions

Is CGPA × 9.5 correct for every university?

No. It is the CBSE factor. Many universities use another rule, so check yours before you use the result.

Which rule should I choose?

Use the rule printed on your marksheet or published by your university. If you find a different one, choose Custom.

Can I use this result on an official form?

Use it as an estimate only. If a form needs an exact figure, follow your university's rule or ask for its certificate.

Is this tool free?

Yes. It asks for your name and WhatsApp number once, at result time, and other Uncodemy tools then open without the form.
