GPA Calculator: Find Your GPA on a 4.0 or 10-Point Scale

Work out a credit-weighted GPA on a 4.0 or 10-point scale.

  • 🌍 4.0 and 10-point
  • ➕ Add any subjects
  • ⚖️ Credit weighted

How to use the GPA Calculator

  1. 1. Pick a scaleChoose the 4.0 scale or the 10-point scale.
  2. 2. Add your coursesEnter a grade and credits for each course. Add or remove rows as you need.
  3. 3. See your GPAGet your GPA, total credits and a table of credit points.

How GPA is calculated

Each letter grade has a point value. Multiply it by the course credits, add the results and divide by total credits: GPA = sum of (points × credits) ÷ sum of credits.

On the 4.0 scale, this tool uses A 4.0, A- 3.7, B+ 3.3, B 3.0, B- 2.7, C+ 2.3, C 2.0, C- 1.7, D+ 1.3, D 1.0 and F 0.

Here is a worked example with the default rows. Algorithms: A with 4 credits gives 16. Databases: B+ with 3 credits gives 9.9. Statistics: A- with 3 credits gives 11.1. Writing: B with 2 credits gives 6. That is 43 credit points over 12 credits, and 43 ÷ 12 = 3.58.

Moving between a 4.0 and a 10-point scale

The result also shows a simple ratio on the other scale. It multiplies a 4.0 GPA by 2.5, or a 10-point GPA by 0.4. So 3.58 on the 4.0 scale reads as about 8.96 on the 10-point scale.

This ratio is a rough guide only. It is not an official conversion. Foreign universities and credential evaluators such as WES use their own methods, and grade tables vary by institution. Check what your target university asks for.
