The height conversion formula
One inch is exactly 2.54 cm, and one foot is 12 inches. So cm = (feet × 12 + inches) × 2.54.
Here is a worked example for 5 feet 7 inches. Total inches are 5 × 12 + 7 = 67. Then 67 × 2.54 = 170.18 cm.
To go back, divide by 2.54, then split into feet and inches. For 170 cm, 170 ÷ 2.54 is about 66.9 inches. That is 5 feet with 6.9 inches left over, so 5 ft 6.9 in.
