Pomodoro Timer: Study and Work in Focused Sessions

Focus for 25 minutes, take a short break and repeat.

  • 🍅 Focus and break cycle
  • ⚙️ Your own timings
  • 🔔 Sound alert

How to use the Pomodoro Timer

  1. 1. Check the timingsKeep 25 and 5 minutes, or set what suits you.
  2. 2. Press StartWork on one task until the timer rings.
  3. 3. Take the breakStep away, then begin the next session.

What is the Pomodoro method?

The Pomodoro Technique was created by Francesco Cirillo, who named it after a tomato-shaped kitchen timer. The idea is simple: work on one task for 25 minutes, take a 5 minute break, and after four rounds take a longer break of 15 to 30 minutes.

It helps because a big task feels less scary when you only have to commit to 25 minutes. The timer also gives you permission to ignore your phone for a while, as the break is never far away. Many students and developers find this useful, though the right timing differs from person to person.

How to get more from each session

  • Choose one task before you press Start, and write it down.
  • Park distractions. If something comes to mind, note it on paper and go back to work.
  • Really rest. Stand up, stretch or drink water. Scrolling your phone rarely feels like a break.
  • Adjust the timing. Coding or deep study may suit 50 minutes of work and 10 of rest.

How this timer works

Set your focus, short break and long break lengths, and how many sessions come before a long break. Keep the option to start the next session on its own, or turn it off if you prefer to begin each one yourself. The time also shows in the browser tab, so you can see it while you work in another tab.

A short sound plays at the end of each session if your device volume is on. The timer tracks real clock time, so it stays correct even if your browser slows down a background tab. Keep this page open while it runs. For a one-off deadline, use the countdown timer, and test your exam readiness with the aptitude test.

Frequently asked questions

How long is one Pomodoro?

The classic length is 25 minutes of work and a 5 minute break. You can change both here.

Does the timer keep running in another tab?

Yes. It tracks real time, so it stays correct while you work in other tabs. Keep the page open and your device awake.

Why did I not hear the sound?

Check that your device is not muted. Some phones also pause sound and timers when the screen locks.

Is this tool free?

Yes. You enter your name and WhatsApp number once, when you first press Start. After that the timer and all other Uncodemy tools open without the form.
