Why convert PNG to JPG
PNG keeps every pixel exactly, which is great for logos and screenshots but heavy for photographs. A photo saved as PNG can be several times larger than the same photo as JPG. Many exam and government forms also accept only JPG, so a PNG gets rejected on upload.
Converting is quick: your browser draws the image and saves it as a JPG at the quality you choose. Pixel dimensions stay the same. 90 percent looks almost the same as the original for most pictures, and lower values give smaller files.
Transparency and sharp edges
JPG has no transparency, so see-through areas must be filled. White is the default, and you can pick any colour to match where the image will be used.
JPG can also add faint blur around sharp text and thin lines. If you are converting a logo or a screenshot full of small text, use a high quality setting, or keep the PNG if the format is accepted.
Going the other way? Use JPG to PNG. For a download from the web in WEBP, use WEBP to JPG. Still too large after converting? Try the image compressor, or use the Image to PDF tool if a portal wants a PDF.
