How to use the JPG to PNG
- 1. Add JPG filesPick up to 20, or drop them on the box.
- 2. ConvertPress the button and the browser does the rest.
- 3. DownloadSave one PNG, or a ZIP for several files.
When PNG is the better choice
Each time a JPG is edited and saved, it loses a little detail. PNG is lossless, so once your image is a PNG, you can edit and save it again and again without new damage. That helps when you are adding text to a picture, retouching it or building a design from it.
Some upload forms and design tools also ask specifically for PNG. Converting takes a moment, and the pixel dimensions stay exactly the same. PNG also handles repeated editing better for graphics with flat colour, sharp lines and text, because it never adds the faint blur that JPG can leave around edges.
What this conversion will not do
- It will not improve quality. Detail lost when the JPG was saved does not come back.
- It will not remove the background. A JPG has no transparency, so the PNG has a solid background too.
- It makes the file bigger. Photos can grow several times larger as PNG. That is normal, because PNG stores every pixel exactly.
If a smaller file is your goal, this is the wrong direction. Use the image compressor instead, or convert with PNG to JPG. To change dimensions, use the image resizer. For a transparent signature image, the signature maker creates a PNG with no background.
Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Conversion runs in your browser and your photos stay on your device.
Why is the PNG larger than my JPG?
PNG stores every pixel without lossy compression, so photos take more space. That is expected.
Will this make my background transparent?
No. A JPG has no transparency, so the PNG keeps the same solid background.
Is it free?
Yes. We ask for your name and WhatsApp number once at result time. Other Uncodemy tools then open without the form.
