How to use the WEBP to JPG
- 1. Add WEBP filesPick up to 20, or drop them on the box.
- 2. Set qualityChoose JPG quality and a background colour.
- 3. DownloadSave one JPG, or a ZIP for several files.
Why you ended up with a WEBP
Many websites serve WEBP because it is smaller than JPG at similar quality, so when you save a picture from a page, that is what you often get. The trouble comes afterwards: older photo editors, some office software and many upload forms do not accept it.
Converting to JPG solves this. Your browser opens the WEBP and saves it as a standard JPG with the same pixel dimensions. Expect the JPG to be somewhat larger than the WEBP, since WEBP is the more efficient format. You can add up to 20 files at once and download them together in a ZIP.
Good to know before converting
- Transparency: WEBP can be see-through and JPG cannot, so transparent areas take the background colour you choose.
- Animation: an animated WEBP gives only one frame.
- Quality: WEBP is already compressed, so use 90 percent or above to avoid adding visible damage.
- Copyright: converting a picture does not give you the right to reuse it. Check the licence of images from the web.
Want a lossless copy with transparency? There is the image resizer, which can save as PNG. Have PNGs too? Use PNG to JPG. If the JPG is too big for a form, use the image compressor.
Frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, so your image stays on your device.
Why is the JPG bigger than the WEBP?
WEBP compresses better, so the same picture takes more space as JPG.
Do animated WEBP files work?
Only one frame is kept, because JPG is a still image format.
Is it free?
Yes. We ask for your name and WhatsApp number once at result time. Other Uncodemy tools then open without the form.
