How the numbers are picked
This tool uses your browser's secure random source, not the basic random function used in simple web pages. Every whole number in your range has the same chance of being picked. A common shortcut in simple tools makes some numbers slightly more likely. We avoid that by throwing away the few values that would cause the imbalance and drawing again.
With No repeats on, the tool works like drawing numbered slips from a box without putting them back. With it off, each number is drawn on its own, so the same number can come up twice.
Common uses
- Classrooms. Pick a roll number to answer the next question.
- Giveaways. Number your entries, then draw a winner. Our spin the wheel does this with names.
- Games. Roll a die by setting 1 to 6, or draw housie numbers from 1 to 90 with no repeats.
- Testing and data work. Create sample values, or choose random rows to check by hand.
What random really looks like
Random results often look less random than people expect. Getting the same number twice in a row, or several numbers close together, is completely normal when repeats are allowed. Each draw knows nothing about the last one, so a number that has not come up for a while is no more likely to appear next.
This tool is for everyday use. It is not meant for lotteries that have legal rules on how draws must run. For passwords, use the password generator, which is built for that job.
Frequently asked questions
Are the numbers really random?
They come from your browser's secure random source, which is designed to be unpredictable. Every number in the range has the same chance.
Can I get numbers without repeats?
Yes. Keep No repeats ticked. The count cannot be more than the numbers available in your range.
Can I use negative numbers?
Yes. Any whole numbers work, such as −50 to 50. Decimals are not supported.
Is this tool free?
Yes. You enter your name and WhatsApp number once when you see your first result, and all other Uncodemy tools then open without the form.
