Turning raw analysis into a professional report is what makes Excel work useful to the people who need to act on it - clarity matters as much as correctness.
Structuring a Workbook
Separate raw data, calculations, and the final report into different sheets - this keeps the presentation clean while preserving the underlying work for auditing later.
Consistent Formatting
- Use a consistent number format for currency, percentages, and dates throughout the report.
- Apply conditional formatting sparingly to highlight what matters, such as values below a target.
- Keep a consistent color palette and font across all charts and tables.
Building a Dashboard
Combine Pivot Tables, Pivot Charts, and slicers on a single sheet so viewers can filter the whole dashboard interactively without touching the underlying data.
