Reference Lines

Reference lines add a fixed marker - such as an average, median, or target value - directly onto a chart, making it easy to see how individual data points compare to a benchmark.

Adding a Reference Line

Right-click the axis -> Add Reference Line
Choose scope: Entire Table / Per Pane / Per Cell
Choose value: Average, Median, Sum, Min/Max, or a Constant

Reference Bands and Distributions

  • Reference Band - shades a range, like between the minimum and maximum values.
  • Reference Distribution - shows percentiles or standard deviations as shaded bands around a value.
  • Box Plot - a built-in distribution summary showing quartiles and outliers.

Formatting Reference Lines

Reference lines can be labeled, colored, and styled with dashed or solid formatting through the same Add Reference Line dialog, making them blend naturally with the rest of the dashboard.

Choosing the right scope matters - "Per Pane" draws a separate reference line for each chart panel (e.g. per region), while "Entire Table" draws a single line across the whole view.
