Re-Spin

What is a Re-Spin?

A re-spin refers to producing a new build after fixing defects found in a previous build, typically to address blocking issues discovered during a test cycle.

When a Re-Spin is Needed

  • A critical defect blocks further testing and must be fixed immediately.
  • Multiple high-priority defects need to be bundled into a fresh build.
  • A failed smoke test requires the build to be rejected and rebuilt.

Impact of Re-Spins

Frequent re-spins can indicate underlying quality or process issues, and typically require a fresh round of smoke testing before full test execution can resume.
