A Scrum Team consists of a Product Owner, a Scrum Master, and the Development Team, working together as a single unit rather than in separate silos.

Characteristics of an Effective Scrum Team

• Cross-functional: the team has all the skills needed to deliver an increment without depending on people outside the team.
• Self-organizing: the team decides how to turn backlog items into an increment rather than being told how to do the work.
• Small: Scrum recommends a team small enough to remain nimble yet large enough to complete significant work, typically around 3-9 developers.
• Stable: keeping the same people together over time improves velocity and trust.

Why Team Structure Matters

Because the team is accountable as a whole for delivering the Sprint Goal, collaboration between developers, testers, and other specialists happens continuously rather than being handed off between departments.
