What is Quality Control
What is Quality Control (QC)?
Quality Control is a reactive, product-oriented approach focused on identifying defects in the actual product after it has been built. QC involves activities like testing, inspection, and reviewing the final output against requirements.
Key Characteristics of QC
- Focuses on the product itself, verifying its actual behaviour.
- Is corrective/reactive in nature — it finds defects that already exist.
- Involves activities like test execution, defect logging, and reporting.
- Is typically the responsibility of the testing team.
- Answers the question: "Does the product actually work correctly?"
Common QC Activities
- Executing test cases against requirements.
- Performing functional and non-functional testing.
- Logging, tracking, and verifying defect fixes.
- Reviewing final builds before release.
