JIRA Tool

Editing Issues

What Can Be Edited

Most fields on an issue—summary, description, priority, assignee, due date, labels, and custom fields—can be edited after creation, provided the user has the right permissions.

How to Edit

Open the issue and click directly on a field (inline editing) or use the "Edit" button to open the full edit form. Changes are saved automatically or via a Save button, depending on the field.

Change History

JIRA keeps a full audit trail (the "Activity" or "History" tab) recording every field change, comment, and status transition, which is invaluable when investigating how and when a defect's status changed.
