What is Alpha Testing?

Alpha testing is conducted in-house by the internal QA team before the product is released to external users, aiming to catch bugs before beta release.

Key Characteristics

• Performed at the developer's site, in a controlled environment.
• Conducted by internal staff — developers, testers, or in-house teams — not real customers.
• Occurs before beta testing, closer to the end of the development cycle.

Goal of Alpha Testing

The goal is to identify major bugs and usability issues before exposing the software to real users, reducing risk during the beta phase.
