Artifact 1: Product Backlog

Definition

The Product Backlog is the single source of requirements for any changes to be made to the product. It is an ordered, ever-evolving list of features, fixes, and improvements.

Characteristics

  • Dynamic: it constantly changes to reflect what the product needs to remain viable and competitive.
  • Ordered: higher-value, higher-priority items sit at the top.
  • Never complete: as long as a product exists, its backlog exists, evolving with feedback and market changes.

Ownership

The Product Owner is accountable for the Product Backlog's content, availability, and ordering, though anyone can contribute new items to it.
