Artifact 2: Sprint Backlog

Definition

The Sprint Backlog is composed of the Sprint Goal, the Product Backlog items selected for the Sprint, and an actionable plan for delivering the increment.

Purpose

It is a forecast made by the Development Team about what functionality will be in the next increment and the work needed to deliver it. Because it belongs to the team, it can be updated throughout the Sprint as more is learned.

Visibility

The Sprint Backlog is highly visible, real-time, and gives an up-to-date picture of the work the Development Team plans to accomplish during the Sprint—often visualized on a Sprint board with columns like To Do, In Progress, and Done.
